Not only does the physical location of the phone building have a history, but so does the history of communications in the area. The telephone itself has only been around since 1876, and it didn’t make its way to Denver until 1879.
Before 1879, residents of the area used many other means to communicate over long distances—the telegraph, the train, men on horseback, and even the smoke from fires all played a part in the local history of communications.
