We were saddened to learn that Telecommunications History Group’s founder and first Executive Director Herb Hackenburg passed away on March 2nd of 2020.

By researching and writing his history book From Muttering Machines to Laser Beams Herb created within USWest an awareness about the value of its historical material. A group of fellow watchdogs emerged and the first items of THG’s now impressive collection of artifacts, publications, photographs and videos were saved.

In 1999 Herb sat down with a representative from USWest for a series of interviews, which were filmed in THG’s Denver museum. We would like to share these videos with you now, in memory of Herb.
